A Kind Word Goes A Long Way
Writing a letter to an incarcerated individual may seem scary at first. The media doesn't really capture who the person is behind the conviction, how long they have been locked up, and how safe is it to communicate with them?
Through this secure portal, writing a letter is made hassle-free by not requiring any personal information from you!
Type up a letter of support or a note saying "you are not forgotten." Whatever your missive, we send it off to those in need of a kind word or note of encouragement, completely anonymous. Let us know if you want the individual to know who the letter is coming from.
Clothing, Food, and Necessities
With government and state-wide budget cutbacks, incarcerated individuals are one of the first populations to suffer neglect and discrimination. A person behind bars is still a person and should be afforded basic essentials, such as nutritious food, hygiene products, and decent housing. Each facility is mandated to supply the people housed three meals per day, but when there are financial cutbacks, meals can take on the form of a single peanut butter and jelly sandwich on moldy bread.*

Each facility's commissary offers incarcerated individuals the option to pay for food with richer nutritional value. Sometimes the alternative is all that is available to those with restrictive diets.**

**Those with strict no-pork diets are often left to eat non-meat products as a meal, such as peanuts, bread or peanut butter crackers.
